I realize I’ve posted about the C.R. England truck driving schools before but I thought I’d share a valuable resource that could be beneficial for those who are considering attending one. The C.R. England student blog is an assortment of accounts and testimonials straight from the horse’s mouth: the students themselves. Read a few for yourself and you may just see why C.R. England has one of the best training programs in the country.

If you haven’t seen this show on the History Channel, then you’re missing out! Ice Road Truckers is definitely one of my favorites! It follows some of the best truckers in the industry as they navigate one of the most treacherous and dangerous routes on Earth in northern Alaska. 250 miles north of the Arctic Circle, truckers have just three months to haul critical goods and supplies to oil camps located in Alaska’s North Slope. Steep 100-ft cliffs, avalanches, -70 degree temperatures, and cracking ice are just a few of the many challenges the Ice Road Truckers will face. Tune in May 31st for the season three premiere!

Last week C.R. England announced its implementation of myLogistics software in their Dedicated division. The software allows the company to provide detailed routes, calculated mileage, real-time shipment information, and more to its customers. It also provides a competitive advantage for C.R. England when it comes to assisting in bid opportunities. It’s just one more way C.R. England is staying one step ahead of the competition!

That’s the title of a great new article put out by the New York Times this past Monday. The article addresses the efforts to reduce carbon emissions along with anti-idling regulations and how the trucking industry is responding with new solutions. Here’s a little tidbit I learned from the article: did you know that $378 million of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (the big stimulus package passed by President Obama) is budgeted for the Department of Energy to use to reduce transport emissions to clean up the environment? That’s a lot of money! Of that amount, anywhere between $10 million and $75 million will go directly towards anti-idling solutions and technologies. In addition, the EPA has allocated another $300 million towards a campaign to cut emissions from diesel engines.
From electrified truck stops (see here) to auxiliary power units, learn how to provide your cab with all the creature comforts you need while reducing your emissions and helping the environment by reading the article here.
